How Does Indian Monsoon Regulate the Northern Hemisphere Stationary Wave Pattern?

چکیده

The Northern Hemisphere summer climate isstrongly affected by a circumglobal stationary Rossby wave train, which can be manifested the first EOF mode of geopotential height at 200 hPa. Interannual variation this (NHW) pattern has significant impact on remarkably warm surface temperature anomalies over North Atlantic, Northeast Europe, East Asia to Central-North Pacific, and America, particularly in 2018 2010. NHW is likely generated atmospheric diabatic heating vorticity forcing: mainly confined Indian monsoon (ISM) precipitation region, whereas anti-cyclonic forcing distributed globe. ISM well-known heat source; however, main source not been established. In general, tropical anomaly comes from heating-induced waves randomly inherent internal waves. linear baroclinic model experiment reveals that westward propagating forcing.

Stationary planetary wave propagation in Northern Hemisphere winter – climatological analysis of the refractive index

The probability density on a height-meridional plane of negative refractive index squared f (nk<0) is introduced as a new analysis tool to investigate the climatology of the propagation conditions of stationary planetary waves based on NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data for 44 Northern Hemisphere boreal winters (1958–2002). This analysis addresses the control of the atmospheric state on planetary wave p...

Northern Hemisphere Summer Monsoon Singularities and Climatological Intraseasonal Oscillation

Using climatological pentad mean outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) and European Centre for MediumRange Weather Forecasts analysis winds, the authors show that the Northern Hemisphere summer monsoon displays statistically significant climatological intraseasonal oscillations (CISOs). The extreme phases of CISO characterize monsoon singularities—monsoon events that occur on a fixed pentad with us...

3D Modeling of Wind-Driven Circulation In The Northern Indian Ocean During Monsoon

Abstract The purpose of this research is to design and identify some of the natures and characteristics of high-resolution surface currents in the Northern Indian Ocean. The pattern of 3D circulation of the Wind-driven surface currents, Sea surface temperature (SST) and Sea Surface Salinity (SSS) distribution in the Northern Indian Ocean using The MIT general circulation model (MITgcm) with ho...

Modulation of northern hemisphere wintertime stationary planetary wave activity: East Asian climate relationships by the Quasi-Biennial Oscillation

[1] The modulation of the relationship between the tropospheric stationary planetary wave activity and the East Asian winter climate by the tropical quasi-biennial oscillation (QBO) wind in the stratosphere is investigated. In the QBO easterly phase, a significant warming appears in northeastern Asia in the presence of high wave activities. This corresponds to a weakened East Asian trough at 50...

Auxilary material for : 1 Decreased monsoon precipitation in the 2 Northern Hemisphere due to anthropogenic aerosols

Figure S2 shows spatial linear trend patterns for MJJAS precipitation for observations 14 (GPCC) and the multi-model mean for each individual forcing. The spatial pattern of ALL 15 and ANT are more consistent with the AA than the GHG multi-model mean. GHG multi16 model mean shows increasing precipitation over most of the NHSM region, while the AA 17 multi-model means shows mostly drying trends....
